The Night Pat Murphy Died

“The Night Pat Murphy Died“ is ubiquitous with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in St. John’s, and for good reason. It is a celebration not only of the Irish roots in Newfoundland, but of our care-free outlook and our unwavering commitment to having a good time (even when the odds are against us). Make no wonder that each year come St.Patrick’s Day you can expect to hear “The Night Pat Murphy Died” performed and played in every pub across town. It has been recorded by countless artists here on the island and abroad, and we were delighted to take a deep dive into its contagious spirit and record the song for ourselves.

Arranged, performed, and recorded by the Terra Bruce Company, we hope you enjoy our rendition of the classic song.

Oh the night that Paddy Murphy died, is a night I’ll never forget
